THE DESOLATE WILDERNESS
The desolate wilderness of Patagonia draws all with a love for the great outdoors. This vast, untamed region brings together a multitude of natural wonders, from majestic Andean mountains to glistening glacial lakes and age-old forests.
Whether you’re visiting sparkling waterfalls, looking up at towering peaks or standing on ice-blue glaciers, you will be awed by the tremendous landscapes of the Patagonian wilderness.
Sitting within Argentina’s section of Patagonia, the Los Glaciares National Park is an area of exceptional natural beauty and rewards those with a thirst for adventure with an array of multi-sports activities on offer. You can take guided treks across the Patagonian plains, hike snowy mountains or ride horses through the wild yet dramatically beautiful terrain.
Alternatively, why not set off on photographic safaris in search of unique wildlife, or experience the exhilaration of river rafting. Make time, too, to see the shimmering blue waters of Lago Argentino, the largest freshwater lake in the country.
The showpiece of Los Glaciares is the mighty Perito Moreno glacier, a 30km long and 5km wide sheet of ice in the south of the park. What makes this glacier special is that instead of retreating it is constantly advancing – a truly magnificent spectacle.
