ABOUT THE ITINERARY
In just a week you’ll explore the ruined Roman city of Jerash, follow in the footsteps of the ancient camel caravans that once plied the King’s Highway, camp out amidst the rolling sand dunes of the Wadi Rum and float in the salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea.
Of course, no visit to the Kingdom would be complete without a pilgrimage to Petra. This ancient city was built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabateans who left behind a marvel of sandstone palaces, temples and tombs that have remarkably withstood the test of time.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
AMMAN
Your journey begins in Amman, capital of Jordan. You’ll be met and transferred to your luxury hotel situated in the Jubayha district. Take some time to relax, because the following day your adventure begins with a privately guided city tour.
You’ll take in the atmospheric old quarter with stops at the Roman Theatre, Nymphaeum and ancient Citadel. Later in the afternoon, you’ll make an excursion to the age-old city of Jerash which has been continuously occupied for the last 6,500 years. You’ll discover an incredible collection of ruins – second only to Petra in magnificence – that includes Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Artemis and the Oval Plaza.
Stay: Two nights in a Centro room at Centro Mada Hotel – bed & breakfast
PETRA
Today you’ll be picked up by your driver to begin your journey to Petra along the legendary King’s Highway. Along the way you’ll discover the magnificent Byzantine-era mosaics at Madaba, the Moses memorial atop Mount Nebo – with sweeping views across the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea – as well as the Crusader Fort of Karak.
Upon arrival you will be taken to your hotel which has an exceptional location just steps from the entrance of the ‘Lost City’. Carved into the sheer cliff face by the industrious Nabataean People, Petra is the country’s greatest treasure and a World Heritage Site that needs little introduction. During your stay you’ll discover much of the city’s magnificent rock-cut architecture including Al-Khazneh (the Treasury), Ad Dier (the Monastery), the Street of Facades and the gorge known as the Siq.
Stay: Two nights in a standard room at Petra Guest House – bed & breakfast
WADI RUM
On day five you’ll take a private tour of Little Petra, still a great commercial centre, before venturing into the Wadi Rum. Aptly known as the Valley of the Moon, this is an unearthly, untouched place of red sand, monolithic rockscapes and ancient rock drawings. It also has a history that includes the exploits of Prince Faisal Bin Hussein and Lawrence of Arabia. You’ll spend the night at the heart of the desert in a romantic tented camp – a chance to experience the desert in the manner of the Bedouins.
Stay: One night in a standard tent at Sun City Camp – half board
DEAD SEA
Today you will be driven to your hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea which, at 430 metres below sea level, is the lowest point on Earth. Not technically a sea but a salt lake, this is one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water which allows you to float on the surface of the water. You’ll also be able to enjoy the facilities of your hotel which include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, huge beach, 55-metre waterslide and stunning wellness centre.
Stay: One night in a standard room at Dead Sea Spa Hotel – bed & breakfast
