ABOUT THE ITINERARY
You will take in an incredible diversity of landscapes, from the arid plains of Isalo National Park with its dramatic sandstone rocks, to the lush rainforests of Andasibe. Here you will have the opportunity to meet some of the country’s most iconic creatures – including the impressive Indri lemur – and discover endemic plants with the help of knowledgeable guides.
This itinerary concludes with a five-night stay on an enchanting private island off the coast of Nosy Be, where you will stay in a thatched bungalow with uninterrupted sea views. With fine white sands, exceptional corals and turquoise waters literally at your doorstep, there are few finer ways to end an adventure in Madagascar.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
ANTANANARIVO
Take your flight to Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo. You will be met and transferred to your hotel, conveniently located at the heart of the city and close to the Grand Avenue de l’independence.
Stay: One night at the Royal Palissandre Hotel – bed & breakfast
ISALO NATIONAL PARK
This morning you will fly to Tulear, where you will be warmly met by your guide and driven to your hotel on the edge of Isalo National Park. The park, much of which remains sacred to the Bara tribe, is known for its extraordinary landscape made up of sandstone rock formations, deep canyons and caves. Accompanied by an expert guide, you can explore natural pools and lush stream banks, and even visit old burial sites hidden in canyon walls.
Stay: Three nights at Jardin du Roy – half board
ANDASIBE NATIONAL PARK
Now comes a completely different but equally fascinating region. You will fly back to Tana before making a three hour drive to Andasibe.
Also known as Perinet, the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is renowned for its population of Indri lemurs – the largest of the species. With a number of habituated groups located within the park’s boundaries you can expect some excellent sightings of these iconic animals. Morning walks through the park’s lush rainforest could also show you endemic creatures like the tenrec and the two-foot long Parson’s chameleon, whilst your guide will point out the area’s numerous birds and unique flora.
Stay: Three nights at Vakona Forest Lodge – half board
TSARABANJINA
Now it’s time to enjoy some tropical island relaxation. You will fly to Nosy Be, where you will be transferred by boat to Tsarabanjina. With a fantastic location on a private island, you will find yourself in the midst of untouched stretches of white beach, inviting turquoise waters, tropical forest and coconut trees. Activities include snorkelling over unspoilt corals, enjoying nature walks, going sailing and visiting other islands. However, you’ll also find the island perfectly suited to doing nothing at all.
Stay: Five nights at Tsarabanjina Hotel – full board
ANTANANARIVO
This afternoon you will be taken by boat to Nosy Be for the flight back to Tana. You will be transferred to your hotel for your final night in the city before journeying home.
