You will be staying at a luxury eco-lodge which enjoys an enviable location within untouched rainforest just 20 minutes away from the Argentine National Park.
During your stay at Awasi you will have your own private guide, who will put together a bespoke program to suite your interests. Whether it is a visit to the Devil’s Throat in the national park, kayaking on one of the nearby rivers or exploring the lush jungle in search of endemic wildlife and colourful birds, your expert guide is on hand to help.
Stay: Three nights at Awasi Iguazu – All-inclusive
IBERÁ WETLANDS
After a delicious breakfast at Awasi on day 4, you will be driven to the Jesuit Missions of San Ignacio where you will have a guided tour of the ruins and a picnic lunch.
From San Ignacio you will continue south to Puerto Valle. A beautiful hotel on the edge of the Iberá wetlands and overlooking the Paraná river.
Over the next day and a half you can enjoy the different activities available from Puerto Valle, which include a wonderful sunset boat tour at one of the nearby lagoons. There are kayaks, bikes, horses for guests to use at the hotel and all kinds of wildlife to see in the surrounding area, including caiman, marsh deer, capybaras and numerous tropical birds.
Stay: Two nights at Hotel Puerto Valle – full board
BUENOS AIRES
On day 6 you will fly south to the Argentine capital.
Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, you will be warmly met and taken to your exquisite hotel set amidst the tree-lined avenues, fashionable boutiques and belle époque architecture of the elegant Recoleta neighbourhood.
A half day city tour, led by a private guide, will take you through the districts of San Telmo, La Boca and Palermo, taking in sights like the striking Casa Rosada in the Plaza de Mayo and the imposing Palace of Congress. The tour concludes at the Recoleta Cemetery, resting place of Eva Peron, where you can learn more about the colourful history of Buenos Aires. In the evening you’ll enjoy the Rojo Tango Show, a lively performance featuring an impressive orchestra, plus a delicious three-course dinner, at the Faena Hotel.
Stay: Three nights at the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt – bed & breakfast
EL CALAFATE
After Buenos Aires and on day 9 you’ll fly south to El Calafate to stay in a luxury mock-estancia overlooking the huge, turquoise Lago Argentino. You’ll be perfectly positioned to explore Los Glaciares National Park, one of Argentina’s most beautiful areas dominated by glacial lakes, snow-capped mountains, primeval forest and sheer granite rock walls. Mountain biking, mini-trekking, horseback riding and birdwatching can all be arranged.
A full day tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier, the centrepiece of the Los Glaciares National Park, is likely to be the highlight of your visit. Fed by the mighty Patagonian Ice Cap, the Perito Moreno Glacier is known as the ‘living’ glacier due to the fact that it is advancing rather than retreating. You’ll be able to walk along wooden catwalks to view this mighty monument from various viewpoints, and you should also witness blocks of ice loosening from the glacier and dropping dramatically into the waters of the lake below.
Stay: Three nights at EOLO – All-inclusive
THE LAKE DISTRICT
On day 12 you will leave Patagonia and fly north to the picturesque Argentine Lake District.
Your beautiful hotel is a short drive from the lively town of San Carlos de Bariloche, and set on a peninsula overlooking the shimmering waters of Lago Nahuel Huapi.
Over the next two days you will have a full day privately guided visit to Isla Victoria, a picturesque island in the middle of the lake where there are a number of idyllic trails. After a delicious picnic lunch, you will take the boat back across the lake to your hotel.
Stay: Three nights at Villa Beluno – bed & breakfast
THE WINE REGION
Leaving behind the wonders of the Lake District, on day 15 you will fly to Mendoza at the heart of the wine country. You will be transferred to the stunning Cavas Wine Lodge, a high-end winery with the Andes mountains offering a stunning backdrop.
Cavas offer many of their own activities and over the next two days you will have the opportunity to ride, white-water raft, hike or merely relax and enjoy delicious wines. One full day is spent visiting specially chosen wineries in the Lujan de Cuyo region, with your own private driver.
Stay: Three nights at Cavas Wine Lodge – full board
THE PAMPAS
Your final stop in Argentina are the sprawling grasslands that surround the capital. On day 18 you will fly back to Buenos Aires and be driven into the Pampas, where your last two nights are spent at a luxury estancia.
Famously the birth place of the gaucho, the area is incredibly flat and perfect for riding and polo. In fact the estancia has its own polo team and if you’re in season you will be able to watch them play. Ride, relax by the pool, visit the historic town of San Antonio de Areco or enjoy a delicious asado. Unwind as your Argentine adventure comes to an end.
