ABOUT THE ITINERARY
Discover the enchanting landscapes, unforgettable marine life and some of the oldest settlements of the continent on our Simply Newfoundland holiday itinerary.
You will start your luxury holiday to Canada by driving into St. John’s, a city full of history, colourful houses and infectious energy. Here, in Newfoundland’s capital, you’ll visit historic sites and quaint pubs, enjoy long walks and a world-class wildlife experience on a puffin and whale watching tour. You will then visit Trinity Bay on the east coast, where you will be able to explore coastal trails and go iceberg watching, before heading to your architecturally astonishing cabin in remote Fogo Island.
The last part of your journey will bring you to Newfoundland’s western coast where you will marvel at the magical landscape of Gros Morne National Park. A scenic lake tour will reveal the park’s marine life and intense beauty of its bays, beaches and Long Range Mountains.
ST. JOHN’S
Board your flight to St. John’s, where you will pick up your hire car from the airport and drive to your boutique hotel in the city’s historic downtown. You’ll have a fabulous view overlooking St. John’s harbour, and are just minutes away from historic Signal Hill and the buzzing nightlife of George Street.
Whilst here you’ll go on a fantastic puffin and whale watching tour which focuses around the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. This area is home to over 2.5 million seabirds including a staggering 300,000 pairs of Atlantic Puffins. It’s also a fantastic place to spot whales and a stunning array of rock-and-wave-carved icebergs. You’ll head back to land for a picnic at the Ferryland lighthouse.

TRINITY
Today you drive to Fishers Loft Inn, tucked away on a quiet back lane in the historic town of Trinity. Founded in the early 16th century, this quaint town is filled with winding lanes and heritage houses. The renowned Skerwink Trail – a 3.5km woodland and coastal trail – is right on the inn’s doorstep, and in the surrounding area you are able to go iceberg watching, play golf and browse local craft shops.

FOGO ISLAND
Next up is the intriguing Fogo Island, where you’ll be staying in a contemporary cabin perched on a rocky shoreline. In this remote northeast part of the Newfoundland coast, nature abounds. Jagged rocks, the mighty sea, grassy hills and placid lakes all play a part in the areas rugged beauty. And with floor to ceiling windows you’ll have a perfect view of it all.
When you’re not relaxing at the inn you can enjoy fishing and whale watching trips, hiking along coastal trails, sea-kayaking, snow-shoeing and ice treks.

GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK
On day eight you check in to your boutique hotel in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Gros Morne National Park. The landscape Gros Morne instantly captures the imagination, with cliffs, pools, tablelands, hidden coastal coves and huge mountains cut through by fjords.
Whether you’re exploring this untouched wilderness on foot or silently drifting along in a boat, the park’s majestic scenery will leave a lasting impression. Your stay includes a guided boat tour of the park’s most beautiful fjord, Western Brook Pond, taking in the dramatic shoreline of Western Newfoundland.

FLY HOME
Today you will drop your hire car off at Deer Lake Airport and catch your flight back to St. John’s. You’ll board an overnight flight back home.
