ABOUT THE ITINERARY
From Nairobi, you’ll fly off to wildlife-rich Laikipia to spend four nights at an intimate, owner-run lodge set on its own working farm. With a dedicated ‘Bush School’ for kids, you’ll be able to fill your days here with exciting game drives, horseback riding, birdwatching and more.
Then comes a stay at a private, family-owned boutique lodge on the edge of the fabled Masai Mara Reserve where you’ll find plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy – including guided bush walks, fishing and visits to local Masai villages. Finally, you’ll make your way to the beautiful Kenyan Coast and a secluded stretch of beach for a few days of sun, sand and sea.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
NAIROBI
Arriving in Nairobi in the evening, you will be met and welcomed before making the short transfer to your polished hotel where you will be spending one night.
Stay: One night at Tamarind Tree
LAIKIPIA
Today you’ll make your way to Laikipia where you’ll be staying at a small, family-friendly lodge set on its own 14,000-acre working cattle ranch. At the heart of one of the country’s richest and most diverse game-viewing regions, El Karama offers an authentic, wonderfully intimate safari.
Day and night game drives and guided walks with expert local trackers will bring you encounters with an array of wildlife, from the Big Five to rarer species like Grevy’s zebra and the indigenous Laikipia hartebeest. The viewing hide offers guests the chance to capture some incredible close-up shots, with fishing, horseback riding, birdwatching, fly camping, rhino-tracking and farm visits also on the menu. Meanwhile, kids are looked after and kept entertained with their own ‘Bush School’ where activities range from mud sculpting to wildlife monitoring and bush photography.
Stay: Four nights at El Karama Lodge
MASAI MARA
Today you’ll journey to another of Kenya’s great wilderness areas – the fabled Masai Mara. Here you’ll be staying in a private conservancy on the edge of the Mara, at a family-owned boutique lodge with an enchanting riverside location.
Hosted by the Wood family and their friendly team of local staff, you’ll be able to fill your days with plenty of exciting activities, from guided bush walks and game drives to fishing in the Mara River, scenic sundowners and visits to local schools and Masai villages. Guests are also free to wander about and assist with day-to-day jobs on the farm, from milking the cows to beekeeping and tree planting. The property is completely fenced, making it safe for kids to run around. Scenic flights, balloon safaris and ‘boda boda’ rides can also be arranged.
Stay: Three nights at House in the Wild
KENYAN COAST
Today you will exchange the sweeping plains for something entirely different. You’ll fly out of the Masai Mara and land on Kenya’s stunning coast at Ukunda, where you’ll be met and escorted to your intimate boutique lodge on the far end of Galu Beach. With the nearest hotel two kilometres away, you can expect a wonderfully secluded and private atmosphere in which to relax.
Although the perfect environment in which to do nothing but laze on picture-perfect sands and swim in balmy ocean waters, Kinondo Kwetu also offers an exciting menu of activities for all ages. Water sports enthusiasts will be able to choose from kitesurfing, deep sea fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving and sailing, whilst those who stay on dry land can play tennis and golf, take private yoga classes, visit nearby villages and ride horses through sacred ‘Kaya’ forests. Close by is the Shimba Hills Natural Reserve, sanctuary to elephants, buffalo and antelopes.
