“From St Kitts’ international airport, the private villa resort of Paradise Beach on Nevis Island is just a short drive to the dock and then a 7-minute boat ride away. And paradise it is! The only one of its kind on the island, each of the two, three or four bedroom luxury villas – there are just eight of them, but soon to be ten – is just steps from the beach and boasts a fully fitted gourmet kitchen, WiFi flat screen tv, Bose bluetooth sound system, keep fit equipment and lilos for the large private pool.
The villas come with a team of hand-picked local professionals dedicated and committed to making your resort experience the finest in the Caribbean, and are always on call to arrange whatever you might need…be it a private chef, a yoga session on the beach or a round at the golf links nearby.
The Island is a mere 36 square miles but bursting with Caribbean charm. Nelson was certainly seduced as it was here that he met and married Fanny Nisbet. The capital Charleston with its well preserved colonial buildings is a delight to explore, as is the diverse selection of restaurants and bars, all different but all offering great food in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Make sure you lunch or dine at one of the charming venues high up on the Hamilton Estate and take your chances with a Killer Bee cocktail at Sunshine’s on Pinney’s Beach.
Nevis’ centrepiece is its eponymous volcano which can be climbed if you are feeling energetic. Or you can trek through the surrounding rainforest, with a local guide to tell you about the flora and fauna, before a refreshing dip in one of the waterfalls that cascades off the mountain. Horse riding along the beach at sunset was a particular highlight, as were a morning’s catamaran sail and a snorkelling adventure with rays and turtles on a reef just off the coast of St Kitts. “
