ABOUT THE ITINERARY
You’ll experience first-class game viewing in the pristine wilderness areas of the Lower Zambezi and Liuwa Plain National Parks – both teeming with wildlife – whilst staying in two of the country’s most luxurious camps. Highlights will include canoeing, walking, fly fishing and game drives, but you can also kick back at camp and watch as the wildlife comes to you.
And no Ultimate Zambia holiday would be complete without a visit to the mighty Victoria Falls. This itinerary will take you to stay in a secluded lodge within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, within walking distance of the awe-inspiring cascades.
DESIGNED BY SPECIALISTS
Bear in mind, these are just a starting point as all holidays are customised to the specific requirements of our guests. Whether you prefer a different style of accommodation, a greater focus on a particular interest or to go to a different destination all together, every itinerary is created individually around your preferences.
LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK
The first stop on your Ultimate tour of Zambia is the Lower Zambezi National Park. Your lodge faces an open floodplain and riverine forest that attracts plenty of wildlife throughout the dry season.
Sprawling along the northern banks of the Zambezi River, the Lower Zambezi National Park is a truly picturesque wilderness made up of oxbow lagoons, lush miombo woodland, savannah, grassland and patches of ebony and fig trees. Declared a national park in 1983, the Lower Zambezi protects a healthy population of game that includes lion, wild dog, buffalo, elephant, zebra, wildebeest and various antelope species. The river is full of hippo and crocodile, whilst the trees are a popular haunt for leopards. The park’s birdlife is equally rich – nearly 400 different species have been recorded here including eagles, kingfishers, herons, ospreys, storks and bee-eaters.
Activities within the park are varied and include bush walks, game drives, canoeing, fishing and boating along the Zambezi.
Stay: Three nights in a luxury tent at Anabezi – full board
LIUWA PLAIN NATIONAL PARK
Take a short flight to the isolated and untamed landscapes of Liuwa Plains. Situated close to Zambia’s border with Angola, this is one of the least visited safari destinations in the country. You’ll be able to explore 3,600 sq km of untouched wilderness that supports spotted hyena, cheetah, zebra, lion, 300 species of birds and Africa’s second largest wildebeest migration. The region is also home to the indigenous Lozi people who have utilised and protected the land for centuries.
You’ll be staying at the very first permanent safari camp within the Liuwa Plain National Park. An elegant base from which you’ll enjoy day and night game drives, walking safaris, seasonal canoeing excursions and rewarding bird watching.
Stay: Four nights in a double tent at King Lewanika Camp – full board
VICTORIA FALLS
Take a short light aircraft flight to Livingstone – gateway to the natural spectacle that is the Victoria Falls. You’ll be transferred to your accommodation situated within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the World Heritage-listed waterfall. As well as guided trips to the falls you’ll be able to venture out on rhino trekking tours and game drives within the national park. Fishing, sunset river cruises, cultural village visits and trips to the Livingstone Museum can all also be arranged.
